The long version

A studio by the sea, held together by yarn.

The Crochet Ocean began on a rainy June afternoon in 2021. Two sisters — one a designer, one a marine biologist — sat on the porch of a small house on the Konkan coast and decided to make one bunny. Then one octopus. Then a tiny lighthouse for the bookshelf.

Five years and a thousand stitched-up pieces later, we are still a tiny studio. We work slowly because slowly is the only way handmade can be. Each piece passes through real hands, gets a name, and leaves with a little card you can keep.

We source organic cotton yarn from a co-op in Tamil Nadu, use no plastic stuffing, and never use button eyes. Our packaging is recycled, our ribbons are linen, and our customer service is one of us, in pajamas, drinking chai.

Welcome to the cove.
